Best Foot Forward
Your feet, with their 26 bones, 36 joints, and 28 muscles evolved to be strong, supple and responsive. Each time we shift our gaze, reach an arm, change our direction or alter our intention, our feet can and should adjust to support our action. Feet are in constant demand and naturally suffer all manner of wear and tear. In response we cushion, immobilize, protect and support them. All that lovely comfort and stability come at a cost, though. Our proprioceptive capacity diminishes, our intrinsic foot strength vanishes, and the dynamic skeletal relationships that serve our legs, pelvis, spine and head become invariable. Too often we neglect to access and build the resources that feet need to best support the human being above.
In this workshop we’ll use images, movement experiments, exercises and ATM to optimize our own foot function and help our clients learn to put their best foot forward.
